EU Business Registrations, Bankruptcies Show Mixed Trends
The information and communication sector led the surge in new business establishments, experiencing a 6.4% increase, according to Eurostat, which released the data on Monday.
Following this notable growth, the industrial sector saw a 4.9% rise in new registrations, and the accommodation and food services industry recorded a 1.3% increase.
Conversely, slight reductions were observed in the trade sector, which declined by 0.3%, and both construction and transport sectors experienced a minor 0.1% drop.
Bankruptcy cases spiked significantly in the accommodation and food services sector, which saw an 8.6% increase.
The information and communication sector also faced challenges, with bankruptcies climbing by 7.9%.
On the other hand, the trade sector witnessed a 3.4% fall in bankruptcy filings, while the finance sector reported a smaller decrease of 0.7%.
